What do we do?

The Danish United Nations Association gives priority to the following political areas:

Conflict prevention and resolution and peace building - including the principle of R2P and use of the Tribunal

Human Rights

  • Follow the development in the UN Human Rights Council, including the preparation of anti-racism conference Durban II
  • Aliens Politics - Danish immigration policy under UN microscope
  • National minority rights - including the formation of democratic states


The Millennium Development Goals, particularly sustainable development and COP15

Civil societys participation in multilateral negotiating fora

Continued reform of the UN

 

The activities of the Danish United Nations Association include among other things:

  • Facilitation civil society involvement in UN processes
  • Policy development on key UN issues
  • Conferences, discussion groups, seminars and courses - nationally as well as internationally
  • Model-UN
  • Guest teachers at schools, organisations, institutions etc.
  • Educational material
  • The newsletter "FN-forbundets Nyhedsbrev"
  • Study trips to the UN headquarters and to UN institutions in the field
  • Co-operation with World Food Programme regarding funding for the Stop Hunger Foundation

Fair kritik af Danmark fra FN-komite

Midt i april fik den danske regering brev fra den FN’s komite, som står for at sikre respekt for konventionen mod racisme og diskrimination, en konvention Danmark har tilsluttet sig. Den sag er en oplagt mulighed for regeringen til at vise sin respekt for FN’s menneskeretsarbejde
